![]() I'd even go as far as to say, that if the PDF had page size in points, and my choice of imported document units is also points - then the values that end up as document size (width and height) of the imported document, should be (to the greatest extent possible) a direct copy-paste of the document size values of the source PDF document. Inkscape 1.3 is the latest major Inkscape release that brings you many fresh new features and new functionality. If the source PDF document is in points - Inkscape upon PDF import settings, should give me a "Imported document units" units dropdown, with the default choice of the same units that the PDF page size is defined in, so in this case, points - but I should be able to choose what units (cm, inch, even pixels) I want in my final imported document at this stage see the mockup: But, I do NOT want to know/deal with which is the default conversion, and whether it is 96 or 92 or 72 DPI or whatever it is (and I can recall in the past, this was also a problem in Inkscape - what is the "default DPI" value). However, this is determined under the assumption there is a default conversion of pixels-per-physical-length, most commonly dots-per-inch (DPI). What should have happened?īasically, I can see that Inkscape, even with a page size in pixels, found that this page is "letter size", which is good. In the document properties, first set the 'Display units' drop-down to 'px' at the top, then adjust the scale a little further down to be 1 'User unit per px'. The PDF document, that had a page size defined in points, got imported as an Inkscape SVG document, that has a page size defined in pixels. Observe that both Front page format units, and Display units, are in px (pixels). In the newly opened document, click File/Document Properties.observe the PDF import settings dialog - there is no way to specify document units:.File/Open -> open pdf-test.pdf from above. This value overrides the DPI hint if used. Now I want a automatic CLI-way to do this. The default is 96 dpi, which corresponds to 1 SVG user unit (px, also called user unit) exporting to 1 bitmap pixel. Shift+Ctrl+D (Document properties) Fit page to selection. Shift+Ctrl+M (Transform) Scale (check 'scale proportionally') Enter width. However, when I open/import this document in Inkscape, the document size is specified in pixels, and therefore the relation to the original length units is gone. How I would do this task with Inkscape-GUI. which can be readily converted into other length units like cm, mm, inches etc. The newest version of Inkscape has recently been released and has added a neat feature. Ive designed a square logo with a dimension of 25x25 Webden 1. ![]() $ pdfinfo.exe pdf-test.pdf | grep 'Page size' Page size: 612 x 792 pts (letter) pixel resolution of a SVG image made with Inkscape.
